Chiropractic for Kids

Today we see that more parents are taking their children to see the chiropractor. Why is that you ask? Well, chiropractic supports the concept that proper function of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems can provide better health.  It empowers the body to use its inherent ability to heal, to strengthen the body’s immune system and to stay in motion.

Kids need chiropractic because many spinal problems seen in adults began as early as birth.  During the birth process,  an infant’s spine and developing nerve system will be stressed. This stress can be the cause of many newborns health complaints such as colic, breathing problems, nursing difficulties, sleep disturbances, allergic reactions and chronic infections. It is important to have newborns checked right away after birth.

As the infant grows, learning to hold up the head, sit, crawl and walk are all activities that affect spinal alignment and are important times to have a child checked. When the child begins to participate in childhood activities such as playing sports or running, trauma from these activities may occur aswell. The stress from these events may or may not result in immediate pain or symptoms but if neglected, the injuries during this period of rapid growth may lead to more serious problems later in life.

When a chiropractor treats a child, the chiropractic adjustment restores nerve system function allowing the body the ability to express a greater state of health and well-being.
